you can call me Iso
trainingtobeaprat:

I don’t even know what to do with you, boy.
On one hand, I’m utterly devastated at what you put yourself through, lying through your teeth, feeling more and more distant from the very person you’re trying to protect and care for the most. Still not getting promoted or appreciated enough, forever sacrificing everything you have for the “greater good” without a single hope of ever living free and happy in your own, magical skin.
On the other hand you’ve become a truly manipulative twat, even if you mean well. And I guess that this is the Merlin of the legend, the puppet master. I never thought you’d truly become that, not because of your supposed to be strong friendship with Arthur in this adaptation, but this season has shown just how far away you are from each other and there was no resolve. You were not officially admitted as an equal, and adviser, you’ve not deemed your friend wise enough to hold your greatest secret, your true self. You let Isolde die in front of you are, so scared you are of the pretense to fall.
So is this it? Is this just another adaptation where Merlin controls from the shadows, except that he never truly gets appreciated for it because it’s behind the mask of a fool? Will Albion be united not by the combined wisdom of King and Sorcerer, but by where Merlin points a tumbling, blind, misdirected Arthur?
It didn’t escape my notice that they didn’t show you chanting “long live the king” after Arthur pulled Excalibur. Were you?
